The bridgeworks art-lab 2021 Fears & Identity

... a digital tour de force or dance on the fiber optic network?

The Al Kasaba Theater in Ramallah and bridgeworks e.V. proudly present the "art-lab 2021": the first digital encounter project of this kind. Based on the starting point of "being strangers to each other", we will start building our Palestinian-German cultural bridge with the first building blocks.

Over five days, an exciting group of Palestinian and German artists, international guests and speakers will explore the themes of fear and identity. Together we will jump into the digital world and try to create a space of possibility and encounter. Far away from our pandemic-ridden everyday life, we will meet somewhere inbetween deep-sea cable and satellite transmission and want nothing more and nothing less than to get to know each other and engage in an artistic exchange.

Speakers from the fields of sociology and psychology, authors and experts from international collaborations will inspire the group and confront it with new food for thought. In joint discussion rounds we will explore different aspects of "fair collaboration", "fear" and "identity" and engage in a common exchange.

But we want even more: we want to get into creative work!

Musically, dance-wise and acting-wise we will try out first formats and try to exhaust the possibilities and chances of digital collaboration to the limits. The interdisciplinary character of the "art-lab" will be maintained and all artists will work together as a group.

Thematically, we will devote ourselves to the already conceived collaborative projects in creative labs and will try out the first child's steps towards our digital variants.

If something common emerges somewhere between our screens, we all gain in the process, be it new impulses, contacts, partnerships and maybe even friendships.

Al Kasaba Theater and bridgeworks are looking forward to "art-lab 2021" and say Toi! Toi! Toi!
